Understanding the Southern Baptist Convention and the Power of Cooperative Giving

At the Pasco Baptist Association, we often hear questions about how the Southern Baptist Convention operates and how churches like yours help fuel missions—locally, nationally, and globally. The SBC is built on a unique, bottom-up structure where autonomous churches choose to partner together for greater impact. One of the most important ways we cooperate is through the Cooperative Program (CP), a unified giving strategy that allows every church to play a vital role in sending missionaries, supporting seminaries, and responding to crises around the world.

But there’s more to the story—especially when it comes to the role of local associations like PBA. Many people don’t realize that funds given to the Florida Baptist Convention through CP do not flow back to the local association. That’s why your direct support of PBA matters so much. This brief guide breaks it all down and explains how your church’s monthly giving supports missions on every level.
